5. THE GRID MAP (Grid-Crawl Navigation)

The Labyrinth of Solis is not a static place, but a shifting, coordinate-based geography. To survive, a Seeker must map the void, one segment at a time.

5.1 Mapping the Void

The world is represented by a 7x7 Grid. Each cell is a Segment.

5.2 Entering a Segment (The Discord Engine)

When you move your Seeker into an unmapped coordinate, you must resolve the following sequence to determine the segment’s state and hostility.

STEP 1: THE DISCORD CHECK

Immediately upon entering the segment, roll for Discord (See Rule 4.1). Roll 1D10 to shift the current Discord Value. This establishes the Discord Modifier (-2 to +2) for the entire stay in this segment.

STEP 2: BIOME DETERMINATION

Roll 1D10 to determine the environment (See Rule 8). Once a coordinate is mapped, its Biome (and associated Truth) is permanent.

STEP 3: SEGMENT SIZE & THE SCOUT ACTION

The Scout Action: Before rolling for size, a Seeker may choose to Scout the area by rolling 1D10 + Pathfinding (PV) vs 6. On a success, they may shift the size result down by one bracket.

STEP 4: IDENTIFY EVENT CATEGORIES

Roll 1D10 (Unmodified) on the Master Spawn Table (Rule 6.1) for each event slot to determine its category.

STEP 5: SEQUENTIAL RESOLUTION

Resolve the identified events one at a time.

5.3 Attrition of the Path (Backtracking)

Backtracking uses Momentum-Based Movement through previously mapped cells.

The Reclaimed Path: Every Standard or Small coordinate you backtrack into becomes unmapped immediately upon entry.

The Grace of the Path: When backtracking, roll 1D10 + Spirit (SP) vs the current Discord Value.
